Materials for Your Fourth of July Pinwheel Table Topper

Here’s what I used to create this festive table centerpiece:

Almost everything came from Dollar Tree, making this one of the most budget-friendly projects I’ve done. The only exception? The pinwheels, which I grabbed from Hobby Lobby.

Assembling Your Fourth of July Pinwheel Table Topper

Step 1: Add the filler.
Start by filling the plastic cup with the clear shredded filler. Using clear filler allows the LED coaster to shine brightly through the bottom, giving the whole table topper a magical glow.

Step 2: Prep your stars.
Gently remove the stick from the Patriotic Glitter Star and Bow Picks. Save that stick — you’ll use it later to help poke the hole for your pinwheel.

Step 3: Position the center elements.
Place the star and bow in the middle of the filler. You can rearrange some of the shredded filler so the star is more visible from the outside.

Directions to explain next steps to making table topper include removing the stick from the star and bow, adding them to the cup, and removing some of the filler from in front of the star.

Step 4: Create the pinwheel base.
Use three strips of clear tape to crisscross over the top of the cup. This will hold the pinwheel steady. Use the leftover stick to carefully poke a hole through the center of the tape.

Step 5: Add your pinwheel.
Insert the pinwheel into the center hole and position it to face forward. This brings your Fourth of July Pinwheel Table Topper to life!

Step 6: Light it up!
Turn on your LED coaster and place it underneath the cup. For outdoor settings, use two-way stick tape to secure the cup to the coaster and prevent it from blowing away in the breeze.

Why I Love This Fourth of July Pinwheel Table Topper

This DIY was so fun and easy that I made ten of them for my Fourth of July gathering. The glowing coasters gave a warm, festive feel once the sun went down. The pinwheels gently moved in the breeze, adding charm and whimsy to every table. And the best part? These toppers looked like they took hours to make — but really only took a few minutes!

You can also switch things up and personalize each cup. Use different styles of glitter stars, patriotic confetti, or even mini flags for extra flair. The possibilities are endless.
