Dollar Tree Scarecrow and Pumpkin Craft

Dollar Tree Scarecrow Craft with pumpkins, ribbon, lights, and fall decorations displayed for an easy DIY autumn project.

Fall is the season when I love filling my home with cozy decorations that feel warm and inviting. This year, I decided to make a Dollar Tree Scarecrow and Pumpkin Craft that combines pumpkins, lights, and a touch of farmhouse charm. It’s affordable, easy to put together, and looks like something you’d buy at a craft fair. I had so much fun making this little project, and I can’t wait to share how you can create one too.

Every single item for this project was purchased at the Dollar Tree. I grabbed a clear jar with a lid, a decorative gridded jar lid, a scarecrow pick pack, some white pumpkin pick decorations, a small strand of battery-operated lights, and a ribbon in warm fall colors. I also couldn’t resist the “Be Thankful” wooden pumpkin bracelet and some tiny tie-on orange pumpkins. Everything together costs only a few dollars.

Getting Started with Dollar Tree Scarecrow and Pumpkin Craft

The first step was swapping the plain jar lid with the decorative gridded one. That simple change transformed the jar into the perfect base for this project. The grid allows you to easily insert and arrange your decorations, and it keeps them standing securely. If you can’t find one of these lids, don’t worry—you can still make the craft without it.

Adding Lights, Scarecrows and Pumpkins

No fall decoration feels complete without the warm glow of lights. I fed the battery-operated string lights into the jar, leaving the battery pack outside so I could turn them on easily. When the lights flickered on, they immediately gave the jar a magical little sparkle.

After that, I slid the wooden pumpkin bracelet over the top of the jar. A dab of hot glue held it in place, though tape would work in a pinch. I replaced the small paper bow with a prettier fall-colored ribbon, and instantly the jar looked like a custom piece you’d find at a seasonal market.

The stars of this project are definitely the little scarecrows. I placed two scarecrow picks into the grid so they stood tall in the back. They looked like they were guarding the pumpkin patch inside the jar! I fluffed up their hair a little and adjusted them so they looked extra cheerful.

Then came the fun part—adding pumpkins! I trimmed down the white pumpkin picks so they sat just slightly shorter than the scarecrows. I angled them criss-cross for a playful layered look. Next, I tucked the orange pumpkins in front, using the ties to attach them or simply sticking them into the jar. Together, the pumpkins created that layered fall harvest vibe that makes any tabletop look festive.

Bringing the Dollar Tree Scarecrow and Pumpkin Craft to Life

Finally, I turned on the lights, and suddenly the whole piece came to life. The pumpkins glowed, the scarecrows stood proudly, and the ribbon tied it all together. What I love most about this Dollar Tree Scarecrow Craft is how easy it is to personalize. You can swap the ribbon, add more pumpkins, or even tuck in faux leaves for more color.

This project cost me about ten dollars, but the finished result looks priceless. Every time I glance at it, I feel like fall has officially arrived in my home.
