Dollar Tree Solar Pool Lights: Easy DIY Lighting

When I first started looking for a way to add ambiance to our small pool area, I didn’t want to spend a ton of money. I was hoping for something simple, easy to install, and—most importantly—pretty! That’s why we use Dollar Tree solar pool lights.

Actually, they’re not pool lights at all, but they work perfectly for it.

I wasn’t sure if these little lights would make much of a difference, but I was pleasantly surprised. They turned out to be the perfect touch for our backyard setup, and I couldn’t wait to share the results.

Why I Chose Dollar Tree Solar Pool Lights

Let’s face it—lighting can get expensive. But with these Dollar Tree solar pool lights, you can create a beautiful nighttime vibe without breaking the bank. My husband found these solar stake lights during a quick trip for party supplies, and he immediately had an idea.

We have a 16-foot above-ground pool, so we picked up eight lights—one for every other post. That turned out to be just the right amount. The soft glow they give off at night is enough to light up the area around the pool without being too bright or harsh. And the way the light dances across the water? Pure magic.

How We Installed Our Lights

Installation was super easy, and what we used also came from Dollar Tree. I love a good all-in-one store solution! We used zip ties to attach the solar lights to each post of the pool frame. At first, we tried using just one zip tie per light, but the lights started to tilt and look a little wonky after a day or two. That’s when I realized—two zip ties are better than one!

With a second zip tie added to the bottom of each light, they stayed perfectly upright. The lights are super lightweight, so it didn’t take much to secure them. Plus, the black zip ties blend in with our pool frame, so they aren’t distracting during the day.

Affordable Ambiance with Dollar Tree Solar Pool Lights

Now that everything is set up, I can honestly say that these super-cheap Dollar Tree solar “pool” lights made a big impact. At night, the lights automatically turn on, and our little pool area transforms into a cozy, glowing spot that’s perfect for relaxing. I find myself going outside just to sit by the water, even if I’m not swimming!

And here’s what I really love—the reflections. The solar lights shine down onto the water, and the ripples create this calming, almost hypnotic pattern of moving light. It’s simple, but it’s beautiful. It makes our pool feel like a little resort right in our backyard.

Big Style, Small Price

One of the best things about our pool lights is how budget-friendly they are. For under $15, we completely transformed the look of our pool. We didn’t need an electrician, no wiring was involved, and everything powers itself with sunlight. Win-win!

If you’re decorating a small outdoor space or want to test out backyard lighting ideas without a big investment, I can’t recommend this enough. It’s the kind of upgrade that looks like it cost way more than it actually did.
